7th Avenue
This was shot from the hip as I walked out of the pizza joint the other night. I just pulled the trigger and kept walking. When I got across the street and looked at the shot my first thought was to go back, compose it carefully and re-shoot. That thought died quickly though as I decided that I actually liked the skewed perspective and shallow depth of field.
Pedestrian Crossing
I spotted this group of pedestrians crossing on the other side of the intersection from where I was crossing. It goes without saying that I had a camera handy. It was twilight and the colors of the scene were in perfect harmony.
Tampa Bay Moonrise #2
This is one of the last photos of the evening when the moon had risen above the bridge and was illuminating the bay with a beautiful warm glow.
Tampa Bay Moonrise #1
Friday, on the night of the full moon, the skies turned perfectly clear and cloud-free and I knew there would be no problem seeing the moon rise up beneath the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It was quite a beautiful sight when it made its appearance. This is the first shot I took that evening. Tomorrow I will post one of the later shots taken as the moon loomed over the bridge in the clear night sky. Click on the pic to see a larger size.
Waterfront Property
I’m in a rush right now so for today’s post I simply grabbed a shot that I liked from yesterday’s shoot.
Slowly Slipping Into the Sea
I have been in an awful creative slump lately because the allergy meds I’ve been taking for the last several weeks just seem to suck the life out of me. I finally quit taking them 3 days ago and even though I’m suffering from the allergy symptoms again I feel mentally refreshed and the creative juices are starting to flow again. I went out last night with my 3 million candlepower spotlight and used it to light up this abandoned bait shack. I made five shots altogether, 4 with colored gels and one without, then created this composite from the five originals. It feels good to finally do something artistic for a change.
Moony Blues
I was out on a long hike and night descended while I was still some distance from camp. I came upon this scene without a tripod but thankfully the high ISO capability in my primary camera allowed me to get the shot without the need for stabilization.
Lunar Halo
I always seem to have good luck with respect to photographing moon rings when I spend time in the wilderness. This one was visible in varying intensities for about 2 hours one evening. I trekked about in the dark woods with a tripod during that time looking for different perspectives while listening to the owls and coyotes around me.
December Evening
On Monday afternoon I was out on a ranch photographing an equestrian event. I shot this as I was bumping along across the fields in the back of a pickup truck after the event had ended. It wasn’t really this dark when I shot it but I deliberately underexposed the scene to bring out the colors and the detail in the sky. I also needed the high shutter speed that created the underexposure to counteract the bumpy ride.
Church Courtyard
I’ve been taking a little time to clean up and organize my archives. That means that I have run across a few images that I intended to post here at one time or another but never actually got around to it.
A Ship on the Horizon
I stayed at the beach until it was dark but I kept taking lengthy time exposures that gave a surreal, dreamy look to the scene.
