On a recent occasion when I was out shooting just for myself I was on a mission to simply shoot some black and white images with one of my vintage 35mm film cameras. I was traveling light and it was the only “real” camera I had with me. I sat down on this park bench to take a break and this seed pod laying on the bench next to me caught my eye. I knew right away that I wanted a color photo of the scene and so the camera in my phone saved the day.

It has been miserably hot lately so I wasn’t shy about getting good and wet in this cool, refreshing fountain the other afternoon in order to create this composition composed of repetitive elements. It’s nice to be able to rely on weatherproof cameras and lenses once in a while.

Lens flare, saturated colors, repetitive patterns… You know I was totally sucked into this one.

It’s just a bit of broken glass lying on a storm sewer cover but I am always attracted to shiny, colorful objects when I have a camera handy.

As I mentioned yesterday I have been amusing myself the past few days by pulling a few images from my archives with repetitive patterns in them. Here is another one that caught my eye.

An example of why I just love to be around water with a camera.

I was out on a long hike and night descended while I was still some distance from camp. I came upon this scene without a tripod but thankfully the high ISO capability in my primary camera allowed me to get the shot without the need for stabilization.

The deep quiet of the predawn wilderness was very calming as I walked through the mist with my camera in search of scenes like this.

This sparkling chandelier was in a stairwell that was painted blue and when the blue light of twilight came through the nearby window it was quite a sight.
