Two States of Water
It has been miserably hot lately so I wasn’t shy about getting good and wet in this cool, refreshing fountain the other afternoon in order to create this composition composed of repetitive elements. It’s nice to be able to rely on weatherproof cameras and lenses once in a while.
Storms
It has been so long it has rained around here. Yesterday the skies finally clouded up and storms rolled through all day and night. As you probably know by now I love to shoot in the rain so I took some time for myself between appointments to do just that. I got totally drenched and enjoyed every minute of it.
At the Watering Hole
I was photographing an equestrian event this past weekend and I really liked this composition that came together out on the ranch.
At the Finish Line
I was on the shoreline at sunset the other evening as the sailboats participating in a regatta were crossing the finish line. The setting sun illuminated the scene with a wonderful warm glow as I photographed the event.
Fish Face
I decided since everything else I posted this week had water in it I would stick with the theme to finish things up on Friday.
Beachcomber
When I was walking down the beach to get setup for the moonrise photos I took this photo. I was walking with a dozen other photographers at the time and I don’t recall seeing any of them stop to take a shot of this scene. One thing I usually try to avoid is getting in the mindset that I am on a mission to take just one sort of photo. I try to keep my eyes and my mind open to anything that is interesting, whether or not it is what I am supposed to be shooting.
Tampa Bay Moonrise #2
This is one of the last photos of the evening when the moon had risen above the bridge and was illuminating the bay with a beautiful warm glow.
Tampa Bay Moonrise #1
Friday, on the night of the full moon, the skies turned perfectly clear and cloud-free and I knew there would be no problem seeing the moon rise up beneath the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. It was quite a beautiful sight when it made its appearance. This is the first shot I took that evening. Tomorrow I will post one of the later shots taken as the moon loomed over the bridge in the clear night sky. Click on the pic to see a larger size.
I’ve Got That Sinking Feeling
Not your typical “boats in the water” scene. If it’s out of the ordinary then you know it will get the attention of me and my camera.
Waterfront Property
I’m in a rush right now so for today’s post I simply grabbed a shot that I liked from yesterday’s shoot.
Slowly Slipping Into the Sea
I have been in an awful creative slump lately because the allergy meds I’ve been taking for the last several weeks just seem to suck the life out of me. I finally quit taking them 3 days ago and even though I’m suffering from the allergy symptoms again I feel mentally refreshed and the creative juices are starting to flow again. I went out last night with my 3 million candlepower spotlight and used it to light up this abandoned bait shack. I made five shots altogether, 4 with colored gels and one without, then created this composite from the five originals. It feels good to finally do something artistic for a change.
Safe Harbor
A serene evening scene in St. Augustine. (I like to make rhymes at times with captions of mine.)
Traffic
It was raining the other afternoon and I spent some time wandering the wet streets around my studio and shooting for fun. I haven’t made a panoramic format image in a while but this scene called out for it. Click on it to see the big size.
Salt Marsh
The sun had been behind thin clouds most of the day, casting an uninspiring pale light on things. Late in the day though the clouds began to break apart and the light became beautiful for a short time. I was lucky enough to be in a great location when it happened.
Swamp Stuff
I went for an impromptu walk through some woods and a swamp the other day and came upon this moss covered palm tree stump in a shallow stream that was reflecting the deep blue afternoon sky.
Underwater Scene
These colorful leaves were lying beneath the water on the bottom of a crystal clear mountain stream.
One Waterfall, Three Perspectives
Given enough time, I won’t shoot anything from just one vantage point.
